Stewart's fake news show is often more provocative and insightful than the real ones on American TV. Seeing the TV screen shared by two men whom I'd consider today's American Heroes has made me unabashedly earnest this evening. I was compelled to go back and reread Stewart's monologue after 9/11...

The view from my apartment was the World Trade Center and now it's gone. They attacked it. This symbol of American ingenuity and strength and labor and imagination and commerce and it is gone. But you know what the view is now? The Statue of Liberty. The view from the south of Manhattan is now the Statue of Liberty. You can't beat that.

At Sooner Thought I read that Gen. Wesley Clark is not only a decorated military commander but also a "progressive Democrat." I don't know much about the general yet but if he's really "progressive" then by definition he must be to the left of Howard Dean, who isn't even comfortable being called "liberal."

I thought that anyone who questioned a Good, Conservative, Republican administration was liberal, which is a euphemism for unpatriotic.

All this is very worrisome. What's up with this lefty Clark guy getting all those fancy awards? Will Armageddon be upon us in November 2004?
